What does this map show?
This map allows to know the situation of a given place in relation to areas of great environmental value, in order to analyze and define intervention projects for an economic, social and environmentally sustainable development.
The declaration of a protected natural reserve is one of the most important legal instruments available to the community to preserve areas with great environmental value. This map shows Protected Natural Reserves of the Province of Córdoba, and their conservation status, according to the (estimated) zoning of the Ley de protección de bosques (Law for the Protection of Forests) of the province.
The map also shows the extension of the large biological corridors that are a result of the contiguous natural reserves in Sierras Chicas, Calamuchita and Traslasierra valleys. It also shows reserves that may not be protected by that Law, promoting future socio-environmental conflicts.
This map correlates the natural reserves with the IPLAM (Instituto de Planificación Metropolitano, Metropolitan Planning Institute) zoning plan for Metro Córdoba, pointing out the correlation between these natural reserves and the areas designated as protected natural territories to the West of Metro Córdoba.
At the same time, the map identifies critical areas within the reserves, such as those occupied by mineral and aggregate quarries, or areas near the reserves that are designated as highly priority urbanization. The urbanization of the latter must be carried out according to special guidelines that ensure a minimal impact on protected areas.
The different base layers add additional information to the map, such as land cover (Google Satellite), the extension of legal city limits, road network and toponymy (Open Street Map), urban areas defined by the Instituto Geográfico Militar (IGN) and used by the Instituto Nacional de Estadísticas y Censos (INDEC) (Argenmap gris).
This map combines official, open access information on the protected natural areas of the Province of Córdoba, the Plan de uso del suelo del Área Metropolitana de Córdoba (Land Use Plan for Metro Córdoba) obtained from IDECOR's Portal de Mapas Córdoba, and the estimated zoning of the Ley de protección de bosques (Law for the Protection of Forests) of the province.
The objective is to assemble information on protected areas in the province -due to their strategic environmental value-, to be used as a reference in academic and technical projects.

This map provides information on the distribution of the population in the territory of República Argentina, such as the location and extent of human settlements and their classification according to the size of their population - according to the latest census data available (2010). It also shows the evolution of territorial occupation detailed at census radio level (approximately 300 homes) according to the census records of 1991, 2001, 2010 and 2022.
The objective is to integrate this demographic information with territorial variables (topographic, hydrographic, land cover and administrative limits) included in the base layers, to be used as a reference in academic and technical projects.
